What the Full STI Screen Extended test covers
This is a comprehensive test for:
- Chlamydia (genital, throat and rectal)
- Gonorrhoea (genital, throat and rectal)
- Ureaplasma urealyticum/parvum
- Mycoplasma Genitalium
- Gardnerella Vaginalis
- Trichomonas Vaginalis
- Herpes Simplex 1 and 2
- HIV
- Syphilis
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
You will receive your sample collection kit in a discreet package the day after you place your order. All orders are fully trackable with Royal Mail.
The kit requires a very small blood sample from a finger prick using a specially designed kit for patients to use at home. The kit is a registered medical device, with full instructions. Most patients are able to extract the 600mcl of capillary blood without any difficulty. Be sure not to apply pressure near the extraction wound, as this will prevent the blood flowing freely into the container - this is the most common patient error.
The kit also contains a sample collection kit using urine or a vaginal swab. Female patients can express a preference for urine or swab. A rectal swab and a throat swab are also included.
Results usually take 36 - 48 hours from the point of being booked in at the lab to reporting. Please note that there can be delays over the weekend.
Samples are sent back to our laboratory using Royal Mail 24 Tracked - this usually arrives the day after it is posted back.
Test Accuracy
The testing is performed in one of the UK's leading pathology laboratories. This is the same test that you would receive in most private clinics where you see a doctor face to face, but for a fraction of the price. The lab technology has simply been repurposed for self-collect blood samples. This has been fully validated to ensure that it has the same high degree of accuracy of a clinician-collected sample.
You will receive your results on your patient dashboard from a UK registered doctor. A copy of the lab report is included as a PDF.
