Buy a Gonorrhoea Test
Which test should I have?
If you just want to be tested for only Gonorrhoea then all you require is a Gonorrhoea test. If, however, you have symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection we strongly recommend you have a full STI screening to identify the cause of the infection. This is because it is impossible to know which STI you have without having a full screen, and many STIs have similar symptoms. It is, therefore, impossible to guess which STI you have without having the full test.
How does it work?
We will send you a Gonorrhoea test kit in the post and you will be required to provide either a urine sample or take a vaginal swab. Return your sample in the prepaid envelope, which we provide, to our laboratory, where it will be tested for the Gonorrhoea bacterium. As soon as your results are back from the lab, they will be posted on a secure area of our website, which only you can access. We are also able to inform you of your results by SMS alert. This extra service is provided completely free of charge.
Is the Gonorrhoea test accurate?
Yes, the Gonorrhoea test that you will be sent in the post is essentially the same test that you would have in any private GP’s surgery. Home Diagnostics uses TDL Pathology, one of the UK’s top pathology labs, so do not worry - you will be in excellent hands!
Is the test suitable for men and women?
Yes, the Gonorrhoea test we use is suitable for men and women. Men will need to provide a urine sample and women have the choice to provide either a urine sample or, if they prefer, a vaginal swab.
What if you test positive?
If your Gonorrhoea test comes back positive, we will arrange for you to be prescribed the appropriate antibiotic. This will be sent to you by overnight courier by a partner pharmacy.
How long does it take?
Your test kit will be dispatched to you immediately after we receive your order. If you order the Gonorrhoea test kit from us before the cut-off time on Monday to Friday, then we will dispatch it to you on that day, by Royal Mail next day delivery or first class post (depending on your preference). This means that you should receive your testing kit the following morning. Normally it takes about 24 hours for you to get your results back from the laboratory unless you have opted for the 4 hour test. If you have a positive result and require antibiotics then we will arrange for a partner clinic to send the medication to you using next day delivery.
How long should I wait to be tested?
At Home Diagnostics we recommend that you get tested as soon as possible but waiting fourteen days after any possible risk of infection will ensure the most accurate results. If you get tested before this point, the test may come back as negative even though you have been infected and we would be recommending that you repeat the test.
Fast Test Option
At Home Diagnostics we offer you a super-fast test for Gonorrhoea. It is more expensive than the standard test, but results are delivered in 4 hours, rather than the 24 hours required for the standard test. The 4 hour test is a time-guaranteed service.
